🌿 Event Format
Kayak fishing for predators: Catch & Release, artificial lures only.
Each angler must submit the following per day:
β€’ 1 Pike
β€’ 5 Perch
β€’ 1 Trout (counts as 40 cm regardless of actual length)
πŸ“‹ No minimum size limits for any species.
πŸ† Total length across all eligible fish over both days determines the final ranking.
All fish must be measured, photographed, and submitted via the Angling Live app.


🚣️ Event Size
β€’ Maximum 50 kayak anglers
β€’ Juniors (aged 10+) may participate if accompanied on the water by an adult (21+), staying within 20 meters.

πŸ“‹ Key Rules Summary
β€’ Catch & release only – all fish must be safely returned to the water.
β€’ Artificial lures only – no bait or fly fishing.
β€’ No trolling – drift fishing is allowed; trolling motors are prohibited.
β€’ Wire traces are mandatory when targeting pike.
β€’ Only one rod may be used at a time, though multiple can be carried.
β€’ All fish must be submitted through the Angling Live app, with photos showing:
o Fish on its right flank
o Visible measuring board scale
o Unique event sticker (provided at registration) clearly displayed
(Photos without the sticker will be disqualified.)
β€’ Use a wide measuring board – no printed rulers on unhooking mats.
β€’ Unhooking mats, landing nets, and proper fish care gear are mandatory.
β€’ Once your 1 trout has been submitted for the day, you must stop targeting trout.
β€’ Anchoring is prohibited – drogues and drift chutes allowed.
β€’ Maintain 50m distance from other kayaks, banks, boats, bank angler and reservoir structures.
β€’ All anglers must wear a PFD/life jacket at all times on the water.
β€’ Kayak fishing must stop if winds exceed Force 5 (19 mph).
β€’ Anglers must hold a valid EA rod licence and event insurance (public liability).
β€’ Junior anglers must stay within 20m of their accompanying adult at all times.

Competitors requiring camping must follow Bewl Water site rules. Please keep the area tidy and maintain quiet after 22:00.
