Competition Format:
βœ… All trout caught must be measured and photographed. Pictures must be uploaded to the Angling LIVE app as soon as possible.
βœ… The Angling LIVE app uses AI features to verify images, including timestamp, location, and duplicate detection. Any attempts at cheating will result in disqualification.
βœ… Measurements must be taken using a wide measuring board with a visible scale. The fish must be photographed on its right flank, with its nose touching the left stopper. A clean picture with a visible event sticker is requiredβ€”NO STICKER, NO FISH APPROVED!
βœ… The final score is calculated as the total length of all trout caught (no limit):
β€’ First 2 Trout: Counted at their actual length.
β€’ From the 3rd Trout onwards: Each trout is counted as 40 cm.
β€’ βœ… Catch & Release is allowed, but you may keep your first two trout.
β€’ βœ… If a fish is badly hooked and cannot be released, it must be handed over to the fishery staff.

RULES


Weather Rules:
β€’ Fishing must stop during thunderstorms, and all participants must seek shelter immediately.
β€’ Kayak fishing must stop if the wind exceeds Force 5 (19 mph). In such cases, all kayaks must return to safe moorings.
β€’ In the event of severe weather, the competition may be postponed. The event organizer and Bewl Water management will make this decision and notify anglers as early as possible.
Licenses & Permits:
β€’ A valid EA rod license is required.
β€’ Participants must have Paddle UK membership or third-party public liability insurance (e.g., Angling Trust, Canal & River Trust).
Fishing Methods:
β€’ Only artificial lures are allowed. No live, dead, natural, or organic bait. No fly fishing.
β€’ Trolling is prohibited; drifting is allowed.
β€’ Multiple rods may be carried, but only one rod can be used at a time.
Fish Handling & Measurements:
β€’ The first two trout may be kept if desired; otherwise, all fish must be released unharmed.
β€’ Trout that are badly hooked and cannot be released must be handed over to fishery staff.
β€’ Fish must be measured using solid measuring boards with a visible scale.
β€’ Measurements are recorded in full centimeters (e.g., 45.3 cm = 46 cm).
β€’ Fish must be photographed on its right flank, nose touching the left stopper, and the event sticker visible. No sticker = no approval.
β€’ All fish must be uploaded to the Angling LIVE app immediately.
Safety & Equipment:
β€’ Life jackets/PFDs must be worn before launching.
β€’ Maintain a minimum 50-meter distance from other kayaks, boats, and shore anglers.
β€’ No fishing near restricted areas (e.g., dam, tower, cages, Aqua Park).
β€’ No trolling motors allowedβ€”only paddle or pedal kayaks permitted.
Angling App & Scoring:
β€’ All catches must be uploaded via the Angling LIVE app as soon as possible.
β€’ The app now features AI verification, detecting timestamps, locations, and duplicate submissions to prevent cheating.
β€’ Scores will remain blind all day until the competition ends.
Junior Participation:
β€’ Juniors aged 10+ may participate but must stay within 20 meters of their supervising adult (21+).
Anchoring:
β€’ Anchoring is prohibited. The use of a drogue or parachute is allowed.

Watercraft Requirements for Championship Participation
To ensure safety, fairness, and consistency across all championship events, the following watercraft regulations will apply:

  1. Accepted Watercraft:
    o Only purpose-built fishing kayaks designed specifically for angling are permitted.
    o Kayaks must be a minimum of 10.5 feet (3.2 meters) in length.
    o Both paddle and pedal-driven fishing kayaks are accepted.
  2. Prohibited Watercraft:
    o Canoes, inflatable kayaks, stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), belly boats, and any other non-specialized watercraft are strictly prohibited.
    o Modified recreational kayaks that do not meet the specifications of a dedicated fishing kayak will not be accepted.
    o Trolling motors and any form of motorized propulsion are strictly prohibited.
  3. Safety & Equipment:
    o All kayaks must be equipped with adequate buoyancy and safety features.
    o Each participant must wear a life jacket (PFD) at all times while on the water.
    Failure to comply with these watercraft requirements will result in disqualification from the competition.
